Game Maker is a Windows
computer program which allows users to easily develop computer games.
Beginning programmers can create sophisticated games prior computer
programming experience, and advanced users can create complex
applications with its built-in scripting language.
The Game Maker program exists in both a free version and a registered
version. The free version does not have any restrictions, it simply has
less features than the registered version (no 3D games, for example, or
no network gaming...). Game Maker is distributed by Yoyo Games:
Game Maker was originally developed by Mark Overmars, a dutch
university professor, as a teaching aid for use by his students in his
game programming course. Game Maker was originally written in Delphi,
which is an object oriented version of Pascal, and the Pascal
programming language itself was developed in order to encourage good
programming practices. So I guess that makes Game Maker an excellent
tool...
Game Maker is a very good at creating games similar to the old arcade
games. Platform games like Mario,
labyrinths like Pac
Man, Shumps like Xevious
and so on... These pages will show you how I use Game
Maker to recreate Xevious (my pet project), and how to create similar
games using (my tutorials). The graphics can be found on the [maps] and [graphics]
pages.
